Client: PUBLIC BODY RESPONSIBLE FOR NATIONAL ROAD MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE
Location: VIGNOLA (MO) - ITALY
Application sector: DIELETRIC FENCE TO SECURE RAILWAY OVERPASS
Objectives
The client needed the fence to be installed in a limited space, to meet self-extinguishing fire classification Bfl-S1, to be wind-resistant and to have a specific and well-defined shape (with both covered and open-mesh cladding to comply with the end client’s request).
Solution
The client decided on using fibreglass products that are easy towork and to install, and could therefore be transported and installed in limited spaces, while offering excellent electrical insulation and durability, without the need for continuous maintenance. M.M.’s profiles and gratings, that are available in open-mesh or covered versions, also meet the Bfl-S1 self-extinguishing standard in accordance with EN 13501-1, as requested by the customer. Our technical department designed the fence to create a bespoke product meeting all requirements of the client. The fence was constructed using a combination of open and covered-mesh gratings to achieve a partially closed grating cladding. Larger posts with a rectangular profile (80x50x5) were used in order to sustain elevated wind loads present on the railway overpass. To facilitate and accelerate the installation, the gratings and posts were delivered pre-cut and pre-drilled to the site.
