Ductile and high-performing thanks to the intrinsic properties of FRP, M.M. products – such as manhole covers and vertical ladders for inspection manholes – are also used in sewerage networks.

An innovative choice: composite manhole covers

M.M. offers manhole covers and gully gratings in composite material as an alternative to traditional cast-iron covers, certified in accordance with the EN 124 standard in classes B125, C250 and D400.

M.M.’s FRP – Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer – manhole covers are characterised by lightness, permeability to electromagnetic fields, safety (anti-slip, electrical and thermal insulation) and corrosion resistance.

Their lightness ensures greater ease of handling, both during installation and in subsequent sewer maintenance operations, with clear savings in time, labour and equipment.

The reduced weight also allows for a significant reduction in transport costs. The composite manhole cover causes minimal interference with radio frequencies and mobile signals associated with modern transmission systems (such as meters, flow meters and antennas) installed inside underground manholes. M.M.’s manhole covers can also be customised in different colours and with the client’s logo.

Sewerage networks and drainage systems for environmental applications

Quiet, “theft-proof” manhole covers for the sewerage system

The use of FRP manhole covers can prevent annoying noise. Cast-iron systems, due to imperfect coupling between the cover and frame or installation errors, can generate noise problems when vehicles or people pass over them.

Furthermore, the theft of cast-iron manhole covers is a phenomenon that has affected numerous cities, both in Italy and abroad, for several years, with considerable costs incurred in replacing stolen covers, including the purchase of new supplies and the installation service. These thefts also pose a risk to the safety of people and vehicles passing near sewer ducts left open.

The use of composite manhole covers can solve this problem, as they are not appealing to thieves, unlike cast iron, which can be melted down and resold.

CE-marked ladders for inspection manholes

M.M. offers CE-marked ladders for inspection manholes in accordance with UNI EN 14396:2004, ensuring operator safety during sewerage network maintenance activities.

Resistant to chemical agents and weathering (humidity, thermal shock, etc.), they offer a durable, low-maintenance solution.
