High resistance, custom-made solutions for corrosive industrial environments
M.M.’s FRP – Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer – gratings and pultruded profiles represent a highly effective solution for the extractive industry, in both the oil & gas sector and mineral extraction. In these chemically aggressive environments, often characterised by harsh climate conditions, the use of traditional materials such as steel proves inefficient and costly in terms of maintenance.

Highly effective FRP gratings
I grigliati M.M. si distinguono per:
- Resistance to corrosion from chemical agents and weathering
- Resistance to humidity, low temperatures and thermal shock
- Self-extinguishing versions with fire reaction class Bfl (in accordance with EN 13501)
- Conductive or antistatic/dissipative versions, ideal for environments at risk of electrostatic charge build-up
FRP: a valid alternative to steel
M.M.’s pultruded profiles and gratings can be used to build walkway decks, working platforms, parapets, gangways, stairways and vertical ladders for:
- access structures for storage tanks in refineries;
- crossing walkways for pipelines;
- pipeline support structures;
- decking for offshore rigs (fixed and floating).
The use of FRP is highly recommended for offshore infrastructure or facilities in coastal areas, where exposure to saline atmospheres makes metal materials prone to rapid weathering.
A strategic choice for zinc extraction too
In nature, zinc is not found in its free state but combined with other minerals. One method of extracting zinc is the electrolytic method. With this technique, zinc oxide is dissolved in sulphuric acid, and zinc is then separated from the resulting solution through electrolysis.
In a context marked by the presence of electricity and chemical agents, the use of FRP gratings and structures offers a dual advantage:
- increased operator safety
- greater plant durability
