Better known as fibreglass, FRP is a material made up of a matrix of thermosetting polyester resins reinforced with continuous glass fibres. The resin matrix ensures high corrosion resistance, while the glass fibre provides high mechanical strength, giving the composite chemical and mechanical characteristics that make it suitable for a wide range of applications.
It is a material also known as FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Polymers), GRP (Glass-Reinforced Polymers), GFRP (Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymers), GFK (from the German Glasfaserverstärkter Kunststoff), PRV (from the French Polymères Renforcés de Fibres de verre), and PRFV (from the Italian Polimeri Rinforzati con Fibre di Vetro and the Spanish Polímeros Reforzados con Fibra de Vidrio).
